Desira Pesta
Desira Pesta is a self taught seamstress & East Coast bred visual artist, who was raised by two bikers in the woods of Pennsylvania; and spent the early part of her life driving bulldozers, tractors, and a diesel truck to high school when everyone else drove BMWs. Desira's past work has included organic farming and shepherding in the Italian Alps, and after moving to NYC- a year of personal chef work for a picky and transitory diet-eating Alexander Calder grandson. That gig, for Desira, also included restoration of Calder's jewelry and sculpture, as well as artist assistance in a variety of wild media including human hair, cows teeth, padlocks and pipes. Since 2003, Desira has been selling her wares ranging from painterly one-off screenprinted tshirts to the fancy dresses, skirts, buttondowns and jackets she makes today. Operating from a breathtaking studio built in the 1700's overlooking the Statue of Liberty, she brings her love of art, architecture, and fashion into wearable forms. Desira, a die-hard Renaissance women, is also a Screen Actors Guild & American Federation of Television and Radio Artists-eligible actress. In 2010, Desira will be making her debut in acting, having held a TINY background part in one of her favorite director's, Noah Baumbach's Greenberg, starring Ben Stiller & Greta Gerwig. |
